Portal do Voluntário (Rio de
Janeiro), creator of the "volunteer-to-volunteer technology," is a web
community that gathers experiences, knowledge, practical guides and
opportunities for volunteer action. It was launched in 2001 through a
partnership of Comunitas, IBM Brazil and TV Globo. It is the only site
of any kind in Brazil to be a finalist in the Stockholm Challenge Award
of 2001 and 2002, bestowed by the city of Stockholm and the European
Union for innovation on the web.
