Our Work

Our strategic business planning has helped make 2-1-1, the FCC-designated dialing code to access information and referral services, a reality:

  • developing the business plan for the National 2-1-1 Initiative for United Way of America and the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems;

  • developing business plans for the states of Florida, Washington, Oregon and Texas.

Our strategic counsel has helped organizations clarify their missions, set program priorities, and move toward becoming more “volunteer-friendly”:

  • working with the board of directors and staff of the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies to focus on the effective engagement of volunteers throughout their world wide system;

  • designing and leading a highly participatory stakeholder-based process for Programa Voluntarios (The National Volunteer Program of Brazil) to develop a new institutional profile as they made the transition from being quasi-governmental to becoming an NGO.

Our knowledge development resulted in publication of “The Essential Attributes of a Community Impact United Way” for United Way of America, the online “2-1-1 Planning Toolkit” for the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems, and a chapter on the role of volunteering in corporate human resource development in “The Learning Curve” published by the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum.

Our professional development programs have touched leaders in business, nonprofits, and government in Australia, Brazil, England, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, and Venezuela.

Our project management has brought Japanese college students to Washington DC for a month-long internship with work placements in nonprofit organizations and home stays; provided a three-day learning experience for social workers, social work educators, and students at Chaoyang University of Technology in Taichung, Taiwan; developed a videotape on International Youth Service Day with contributors from throughout the world; and, provided speakers from five countries for the World Youth Volunteer Symposium in Tokyo.
